Calculate Cable Size and Voltage Drop

cable

Voltage (Leave set to 220V for Thailand)

Load

Set Load to 4x rated power/current for motor applications (e.g. Water Pump)

Allowable Voltage Drop %

Length of Cabling metres

Required Cable Size mm2

Voltage Drop volts.

Percentage Drop %.

Load = amps.

Caution - for Guidance ONLY

NO guarantee as to the accuracy of these values is given.
And they should be checked against some other source.

Cable Types:

Twin & Earth or Three Core & Earth
House wiring cable

S.W.A Xlpe ( TLC - Standard SWA )
SWA with Xlpe thermosetting insulation giving an increased current carrying capacity.

S.W.A Pvc
S.W.A with standard Pvc insulation.

Hituf
Pvc insulated with Tough Pvc thermosetting insulation giving an increased current carrying capacity.
Suitable for building sites and some garden and other tough conditions.

Notes:

Basis for Calculations:
Cables are not grouped or bunched
Ambient temperature 30°C

SWA Xlpe - Conductor temperature 90°C
SWA Pvc - Conductor temperature 70°C
TW & E - Conductor temperature 70°C
Hituf - Conductor temperature 90°C

Allowances MUST be made for operating temperatures outside the above,
for correction factors refer to the full IEE 16th edition regulations for tables.
